Who is eligible for free access?
Everyone! Every person who takes the time to fill out a profile gets access to the entire site. You can search all profiles and save favorites. Free members can also manage or change any aspect of their profile easily. You can even post two public photos and two password protected photos. If you wish to communicate with other members you will have to upgrade to a premium membership. See membership plans.
Who is eligible for unlimited free access?
Heroes! Current or retired full-time paid firefighters and police officers are all eligible for unlimited free access. Active duty or activated reserve military- Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and National Guard are also eligible. We had a hard time deciding who to allow free unlimited access to. We decided that anyone who literally put their lives on the line as a normal course of duty, deserve unlimited free access. We recognize that there are many other heroes in our society (teachers and nurses immediately come to mind). We had to draw the line somewhere so we could pay the bills. Verification information is required.
How do I know I am talking to heroes?
We are the only website that will verify the employment of the heroes. All of our heroes are required to supply information that will allow us to confirm they are employed as a firefighter, police officer, or military personnel. And yes, we do call to verify. Please remember we are not doing a background check only confirming employment. Always practice safe dating procedures and meetings.
How do I cancel my membership/delete profile?
We are always very sorry to hear that someone wants to cancel their account. We hope that it is because you found love and you no longer need our services.
If you log in and go to the edit profile area just below the profile picture you will see the cancel my account option. Just click on that and you will be prompted to cancel your profile.
You can also hide your profile so you can come back at any time and renew your search for love
How do you verify employment without letting my coworkers know I am on a dating website?
We are very discreet in our verification of employment process. We will never divulge to your employer why we are calling. We will simply ask if you’re employed with them and that is all. We are not required to tell them who we are, only that we are verifying employment.
How do I know they have been "verified"
As you scroll through the pages of DateAHero.com you will see the familiar icons of our heroes fire, police, military etc. Just because they have an icon does not mean they have been verified. Look on the bottom left of their profile. If it does not say "verified hero" they have not yet been verified. This does not mean that they are not a hero it just means that they have not supplied the necessary information for us to verify their employment.
How do I download my profile picture?
It can be somewhat confusing because we have two areas where you can post photos. If you log into your account you will be directed to the edit profile section. From there you will see the menu bars on the left and the "pictures" bar. That is where you download your various pictures but not where you load your profile picture. Just scroll down the edit profile page and you will see at the bottom an option to download your profile image. Just download your jpeg from there and it will show up as your profile picture when people do searches.
What are the Membership plans?
Well first of all everyone can join for free and access all areas of the site. The only time you have to pay is when you find someone you like and you want to communicate with them or comment on their page. Remember all of our “Life Risking” heroes get complete access for free for life. The only requirement is that you need to fill out the verification information. Also our Life Saving and Life Enriching heroes get a 50% and 25% discount respectively. Visit our “Who is a Hero” page to see if you fall into one of those categories. When do I pay?
We are very unique in that we allow you to view every single profile on our site. Because we are a niche site we do not have the millions of members that other site may have. For that reason we suggest that you do a search for the type of person you are looking for. If you do not have a large number of members to choose from you know that there is no need for you to pay for a subscription
